Nice Run with Steve, kendrick.    We missed Dave, James and the man in the speedo Clyde who arrived an hour early at the Dixie center.     We took it very easy.  I wanted to us this run to see if i was ready to run the half next week.   I  know know i can run it.  Bu ti am not sure it would be a very good race.     I was pretty tight most of the time.   I am not a very good cold wheather runner.

I know i couldprobably  skweek in a 130.00  but i do not want to hurt myself doing it.   I do not have a very good base of miles under me at this point.  The last 3 miles i did pick it up 6:15 pace.     ave 7:30 pace over all.

decided i felt a need for some speed today.  Talked to Aaron and Hayden  at the rec center.   Hayden has really let himself go,    He looks like he has gained 30lbs.    He looks sickley.    He said he plans on running the Half.     Not ,any people are going to fear This warrior from the past.  only thing that is not going to blow by him is the wind if itis a calm day saturday.   Man  Arron on the other hand looks primed and ready to go.  If the guy was going to run this race  i think Dave would sell his shorts to win.    I do hear that a mighty group of runners will be there saturday.

Ran one mile 7:10 pace.   Ran 4 interval  1 miles at 5:27.  Felt ok. But i am way out of shape.

What a sweet day for a Race,   1000 plus came out to run 13.1.  They came to take it out on the trail.  All of them came for different reasons. Some to just run with friends.  Some to claim the 1st [lace prize.   Some to prove to them self that they can run a half Marathon and live to tell about it.

Today I ran to just enjoy the run.   To have fun.  and to talk to good friends.   and meet new friends.  My time was not imortant.  I wanted to just run around a 7 min pace and take it easy.   I ended up running 132:00       Along the way I talked to several runners and just had fun.   I talked to Amber, Michele, and a few others  befor the race.  Amber is an awesome athlete. She passed me about mile 9   and she motivated me to pick it up a little.

The  beginning of the race was great.   Clyde  and his mountain bike was ready to rumble.  Logan had his Grandpa's Bike AND I WAS WORRIED HE COULD NOT PETTLE IT FAST ENPUGH.    We had a fast group, Dave Holt, Paul.  and the mighty Hayden!  (wonder boy! ) and  some others.      I maintained a fairly even pace most of the way.  I can tell that i am very much out of shape.  Miles 6-10 were the hardest on this race, Mostly because of my conditioning.  Some of the trail slippery.

Hey Wild Bull,

Great Race!! Good Job . . . I know you were taking it easy, but it was a push for me. I'm not sore though, so that tells me I could and should have pushed harder. . . Oh well, it was a pretty day and a fun race! Thanks for passing me at the end cause you really pulled me through. I just kept telling myself, "stay behind Bill, stay behind Bill" even though I fell a ways back at least I could still see you:) You're a great runner!

Hey Bill, I got signed up for Ogden yesterday, so now it is full steam ahead with my training. I plan to start increasing the miles gradually. I'll try to work up to 50-60 miles a week over the next month. Then I think if I can have a really good March and April I should be ready for a decent marathon. I'm thinking more about the Grand Slam and probably not going to do a big marathon like Chicago or New York this year.

Glad you could get a run in with Cody. Hey TylerS from Spanish Fork would like to come down and do the Lake to Lake Relay. I said we would probably be trying to form a team. Any ideas on who might like to do it?

From Dustin on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 11:00:36

I also told him we would try to be pretty competitive, but also have a good time.

From wildbull on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 11:15:23

I talked to steve about it. He was all for it. I think he would sponsor us. I talked to him about two teams.

is it ten guys per team?

if so lets start oragnizing it.

1st team.

and 2 team.

From wildbull on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 11:20:25

Teams: Teams will consist of 5 people (Open Men, Open Women and Mixed) with each individual completing a minimum of two legs (roughly 5 miles each) of the relay. For the mixed division you need at leaast 2 of either sex. Less then 2 will place you in the open mens division.

Awards will be to the top 10 teams in each division and each team will recieve a special award for finishing.

From wildbull on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 11:39:57

We coud be on the second team. Dustin, James, Tyler, Bill,I would love to have Aaron? Or Steve O. Austin?

From Dustin on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 11:53:32

Was Hooper going to be with us also? Also did you get signed up for Ogden?

From Dustin on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 12:03:27

How about Dave, Clyde and Logan did they express any interest in running it? I'm not sure if those high school kids will be in season then or have a meet (Austin, Hayden) or if that would be too much racing close to their season?

Can you say pain!    Can you feel pain!    We met up at Clydes at 6:30  am.  Steve, Greg.Dave, Austin, and one other man his name escapes me at the moment.   We pushed our way up Ice Box  Trail.      And up into no mans land.     I fell 5 times and chewed up my shoes pretty good.   Finally cought clyde up at the top  and i decided that threre was no way i was going back down  that trail i came up on.   So i pushed over the top and got lost in a hail storm.    It took me quite a while to find the trail again after jumping sage brush for about a half hour.      I   was glad i made it back to Clydes house alive.     Clyde was just about to take my car to Mesquite for lunch when i got back to his house.      Greg looked like he got shot at a few times.     More scares from ice the ice box trail. I am  glad to get this on done and live to tell about it.

I hope they'd be scared of us anyway, but I do get a little nervous running up Snow Canyon somedays, , , I just talk really loud, it's enough to scare anything away :) good miles this week, are you doing the spectrum? Hey Bill, Bull, Wildbull, Trashtalker, Great Runner, . . . so many Alias'. (is that how you spell Alias?) You should do the grand-slam! (4 marathons: Ogden, Utah Valley, Park City, Logan if you don't do Ogden, and St.George) I decided to go for it. I signed up for Ogden last night, registration is full, but if you are a Zions bank customer they have 100 spots left, you just enter "zbogden" in the password section. Are you still doing the Lake to Lake relay?

3/8- Hayden

4/9- Dustin

5/10-James

Any thoughts?

From wildbull on Mon, Mar 02, 2009 at 15:52:53 from 204.113.19.10

Glad your thinking about it Dustin.

I think You and Hayden are the quickest runners on our team. I was wondering if we should use Hayden the last Leg. But this works.

From Dustin on Mon, Mar 02, 2009 at 16:17:47 from 204.113.48.69

Legs 5 and 10 are the longest, so that might be something to consider for Hayden. Legs 8 and 9 have the most uphill and are rated the most difficult. I thought it would be fun to watch you start off, since you get so excited at the beginning of races.

Today was the first annual lake to lake relay in  Saint George.      Hayden, Dustin James and my self set a course record!   (Ok it was the first one!)   We met up at the store and then went and got our Ace in the hole (Hayden)     (Bless you my child)   I was voted to run the first leg.   6.07 miles of nice road.    This was the longest leg but it was one of the easier ones.     I managed to hold on to 3 overall  and then” Nate the Great” took over leg two.  He ran his heart out.  He looked like man running in the  Olympics.   Then came Dustin who looked like a man possessed.  A man  who looked like he  was running from the IRS?    Then came James who just about missed the dinner bell. But made it up with his "Handsomeness"   Dustin was nice enough to give him his sweaty soiled stinky shirt!  With only one small request in exchange  "that he not sweat in it!"    We were in second place at this time behind  the Decker Clan "the Beast" and the brother of the Beast,  and his father.  and two other young guns that can fly.   Hayden our Ace put us in first place after his leg.  We  pretty much held on from there.   Opps the Wild bull did let the other team catch him at the end of his leg 6.  But "Nate the great"    soon corrected this and The rest is History.  Hayden ran the final leg into victory .  The Saint George Running team is deep in talent and guts.     Thanks to my team.  Thanks for all the support. And thanks to the Saint George Running store for sponering us.

Nice miles this afternoon.  I decided to try and change up my running schedule  and run during my lunch hour.    It is so nice in Saint George I have to ask my self if this is Heaven?    Then around mile 6 I crashed landed when my left calf  started Cramping.    I pulled through.  Bad choice of words....... I ran through it and made it back to the Rec Center and took a quick Shower.   I Will Run a few more tonight!

We will call todays run "Return to Dead Cow Mountain"   James. Tyler, and my self started out early to see if we could hook up with Steve and mighty Dave.  About 3 miles into it we could see their Head Lamps.  Like  Twin beacons  in the dark.    We met up and passed like strangers in the night.    Steve said you guys are looking good.  In the Dark when you can't see 2 feet in the front of you "I am looking good."  We fought our way up to the Mighty Beast that gave up the ghost.   It still stinks.  And the "utter disrtuction" is remarkable. :)    We finally made  it back to the cars,   and after about 15 min I decided to go find the ultra Men, (Steve and Dave.)      I passed Dave   and continud up the road to find Steve.   I must of took the wrong Road because it seemed like I ran forever.     Finally I stopped and turned around and headed back.   The news here is that Dave  Ran this course 3 X  at 14 a loop you do the math.  The man is a magic man. I had a nice week of running.  Next week I will do some speed work.

I'm also bummed about the pies in Veyo, sad little town now with no pies! Try a cookie from Dutchman's market . . .you won't even miss pies after that! Plus they probably have just as much fat and calories :)

There were some nice talks about staying the course in good times and bad. The rightous as well as the unrightous will come upon trials. Having a firm foundation will keep us on the right path. However, my foot is killing me! and I am not sure it will endure another mile?

From Amber on Tue, Apr 07, 2009 at 18:24:29 from 64.255.88.143

Oh man. . . . sorry about the fall! You may want to take a look at your short term goals "stay injury free" and focus a little more :) hee hee, , , no, I'm not laughing! Who knew running was so dangerous? but hey, you're right, no injury to the legs so you still came out victorious! Be careful out there.

Oh, I'm not running the "run for kids" this weekend, I was planning on it and then waited too long to sign up and don't want to pay the extra sign up fee. I'm gonna run my own 'mock race' on the treadmill . . . oh fun! j/k

How bout you? They may need to keep your disclaimer sheet on top of the stack . . . :)

I might run over to the race from La Verkin about 12 miles, then try running the race on tired legs. Probably won't run a very fast time in the race, but should be a good test for the legs and preparation for running hard when tired, which might help with the marathon in a few weeks.

I should of done more cross training.  Tomorrow will run with  The other corner of the Bermuda triangle.   We are just waiting for Marci to come out and play.

P.S.  I watched the entire Marathon today.  It  was so awesome to see both men and woman Americans make it to the top 3.  WOW!   I think Ryan Would of hhad a better shot if he would of drafted instead of staying in the lead the first 13.  But who am i to say.  The man can just fly.  He moves with ease.  It was also awesome to see the  man I grew up with Bill Rodgers,  He can still  Run.

Another painful day with Mike.   Not feeling very well at all this morning.  I was glad to get out.  I am not use to running in the morning, but I know it is something I got to start doing because it is getting hot down here in Dixie.   I was really tight this entire run then around mile 6 I had to stop and stretch.  Then around Mile 8.5 my body simply said you’re done.  I could hardly walk!   Mike Ran back to the truck and came back to pick me up.    I did not eat very well yesterday.  Not sure what is going on.    I think it will take me a week to get back into my routine.  Plus I got to get use to running in the morning again.

Your report today, sounds more like me stopping to stretch and having to walk. Give it a few days and you should bounce back. I'm feeling terrible with allergies and when did the weather decide to just turn right into summer. I would still prefer the mid 70's. 90 yesterday was a little warm for April.

From wildbull on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 10:14:45 from 168.179.180.160

I hope so Dustin. It is no fun to run in pain.

From superfly on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 10:28:02 from 209.33.210.52

Good to hear you back at it Bull. I've been meaning to have a talk with you about pace on regular training runs.... It's important so take it easy (no faster than 8-7:30 pace on all of your runs unless you plan a specific speed workout). I'll tell you more in person but I really think your body will respond better to something like this.

From Wildbull on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 11:15:48 from 168.179.180.160

But that is so stinking slow! :) :) I wi fall asleep if i don't get my heart rate above 47. I think you are right Clyde. I will work on it. I am sure the peope i run with will appreciate if i take your adise to.

From scotthughes on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 12:35:11 from 209.33.211.3

Great point Clyde! I have been struggling with pace. Salt Lake taught me a valuable lesson....don't go out too fast. I felt great with the pace and didn't feel like I was pushing it...I was.

My training most of the time is the same way. I need to slow down and allow the body to get in a flow, enjoy it more.

Bill, great to see you are running again! Come back slow and strong!

From Mike Warren on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 12:59:58 from 207.50.149.221

Bull, thanks for the run today hope your feeling a little better. I ran in pain for the last year and a half no fun! I know you guys have a ton more knowledge and experience than me, but I do agree with Clyde. I have been back for a little over a month now, only ran fast twice really building a base this time. I feel so much better and to be honest with you, the fast runs I did do were awesome. My body was rested and I was very surprised about the pace I was able to hold. I guess for me, if I race everyday I cant race on race day.

Anyway, you are one awesome, fast, beast of a runner! Just stay healthy and your PRs will fall just like you did last time we ran LOL!

From Dustin on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 13:11:53 from 204.113.48.69

I'll second Clyde's comments. Make your easy days easy and your hard days hard. Most of my runs are right around 7:30 to 8:00 min pace average. Only on tempo runs and interval repeats do I really drop the pace. Just listen your body and not feel like you have to hit a certain mileage each week. I know that is something I've struggled with in the past.

From WildBull on Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 13:55:46 from 168.179.180.160

From Amber on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 16:51:13 from 64.255.88.143

Are you running Hurricane? I'm assuming so! Good Luck! All this talk of burritos, let me tell you, go to Alberto's for a breakfast burrito. I know it sounds getto but they are the bEST!! Egg and potato, but my hubby loves the ham and egg. But whatever you do, don't eat it right before your Hurricane race ! :)

You've almost run 1,000 miles already this year----WOW

I jogged the Hurricane half this morning!  What a nice day.    Over cast.  almost perfect for racing.  My toe did not like it much.      I did not get what i wanted  out of this race. But it went ok .    Mile 1 was very comfortable 6:15  pace.   I Nothing fast just calm.   mile 3-6 was a struggle.   7-10  was ok. 11-13 was a walk in the park.

Next time i will ware some different  shoes.  and shave my head.  and my legs for Mike!

Keep workin it Bill. Are you still planning on running Ogden? I know what you mean as far as the toes. I have been ailing with toe pain and swelling the past week and a half. I am thinking that I have it all figured out. Nothing broken just the toes next to the big toe on both feet had been jambed or twisted. I had a chiropractor work on them Friday and that made a great differance. At least the swelling is down most of the way. The pain is minor but still bugs me at times when running.

Good job Bill, and thanks for taking it easy on me on the run back to La Verkin.

Bull, shave the head Bro! Hey, good race and you were smart to hold back. You have bigger fish to fry at Odgen. By the way, very respectable with a 2nd in age group and 18 overall. Hold that shaven head high.

Good work Bill. Take it easy on that toe so you can kick some booty at Ogden. You could lose 5-6 lbs if you shaved those legs. :)

The Great Ogden Report

May 15th   we arrived in Ogden about 8:30 pm.    Dustin the guy I went with is ready to go to bed!     I want to hit the Hot Tub and check out the party.      Ogden is an interesting town.   Not the kinds of place you want get lost in.  There are a lot of gangs and people looking for that special person to pay for their room for a night if you know what I mean!

Saturday 4 am came really quick.   But I was prepared.  Got on my special Race shorts that show a little leg.  (Got to show off for the camera)   most marathons give all the runners a timing chip.    However, this chip was almost as big as my wallet.  And I had to strap it on to my Ankle.    Felt like I just got out of jail and I had to ware an ankle locator.

We got on the Bus about 4:45 and off we went up the canyon 26.2 miles away from the finish line!   (My garmin said it was 26.8 miles how dare they make it .5 longer!)

When we arrived we were 1.5 hours before the start.    3000 runners all staring at each other in some farmer’s field!   And 50 Porte potties to share.      I ask myself why am I here?  I could be home sleeping!  .   The temp is about 40 degrees but the fire barrel is sending out terrific heat.

Finally the guy on the Mega phone tells us to get to the starting line.   The race will start in 5 min.

The Best of the Best start at the front.    I am not the Best of the Best.  But I am better then the guy in the clown suit next to me. (I hope)    It would not be good if some clown beat me!    I see Amber. She looks like she is ready to rock and roll.   I hope we can run together pass some of the long miles.

Bam the gun goes off and stangers are waiving me on!

Mile

1 6:29 pace.  Feeling good and running beside Dustin and trying to keep the clown behind me.

2. 6.29 pace.  (I have not been chicked yet,  so I am  feeling good!)

3. 6.29 again.   Here comes the chick!  Dustin asks if I am feeling good.  (I tell him to pass the syrup for my pancakes)

4. 6:28   Sill feeling good.  Only 21 miles to go!  Keeping the chick by my side. (I tell her she looks tired!)

  1. 6.26 feeling great. 20 miles to go!!  Woo hoo.
  2. 6:38 still feeling good.  Looking at the mountains. And wondering what is for lunch?
  3. 6:39  feeling good Still.  19 more to go.
  4. 6:52 slight hill this mile! (Looking for an oxygen tank. At the Aide station.)
  5. 6:59  (I should of just ran the half   what was I thinking?)
  6. 7:13 is there a Rest stop somewhere?
  7. 7:14 flat land (Is this Ohio?)    (I wish I could tap my Red shoes and be in ohio!)
  8. 7:08   I might of went out to fast!
  9. 7:16 Eden    a small town.  Sign say’s welcome to Eden  (13 miles to hell!)
  10. 7.15   Running around pine view Reservoir. I should have brought my fishing pole!)
  11. 7:40 small hill here.   I hope it is not hunting season I forgot my orange!
  12. 7:31 I think I went out to fast.   Slowing down.
  13. 7:27 water tastes like they got it from the lake!   Yuck!!
  14. 7:05 Hey where is the finish line!
  15. 7:21 I should be running faster it is down hill.   The legs want to leave me!  They are tired of supporting my fat butt!
  16. 7:26   not looking pretty!    Woman scream, babies cry and grown men groan as I pass by them!
  17. 5 miles to go.   Legs are gone.   But if I stop I will pass out.
  18. Keep thinking I will make it, don’t stop.
  19. Getting into town Yea.   Running past walkers and lots of half marathoners
  20. Passing High River.   I think I should jump in!   I winder if it goes by the finish line.
  21. Sasha   gives me some encouragement and tells me to keep going.
  22. The crowd screams, People clap as I make to the finish line.    Where is the med tent!     Where is the ice cream!

Billy my man, Great race! When you were sprinting out at the start I was standing still in the mob. I made the mistake of starting in the correct area for my pace (8:00) but when I went across the starting line we were all walking still.....1/4 mile in and we are jogging at 10:00+ pace, nothing to do but hope it thins out soon. By the time it thinned out you were looking at Pineview, throwing in a line and munching on a burger. I actually enjoyed the lake water at the aid stations, they didn't want to over burden the water supply in Eden. I just want to know one thing, did you bounce down the road with the secret weapons? I didn't notice any parts on the road...just a lot of roadkill. I especially liked the dead deer as we jumped off the bus....was that your breakfast?

Good job man. I think that may be one of the best races you've ever run and you don't know it. With a solid finish like that under your belt early in the year your well on your way to getting the 3 hour monkey off your back for good this year at STG.

From Amber on Tue, May 19, 2009 at 00:27:26 from 64.255.88.143

Hey Bill,

It's always a good time to read your race reports!!! :) Even your day to day reports for that matter . . . but GREAT race! Good job. I so wish I could have had it in me to keep up with you, but when you said you were going to keep it in the 6:45's I thought, , oh man, c-ya later! I knew you could keep it real out there, even w/ the gross water! It was awful! You'll get your 2:50 at SG for sure! Cause we have awesome water, no really there is just nothing like the SG marathon I've decided. We are lucky! Plus our timing chips don't weigh us down! :) Are you doing the Utah Valley marathon? Bryce?

From Dustin on Tue, May 19, 2009 at 13:33:47 from 205.126.78.217

Nice write up Bill. I just can't believe you didn't mention how much fun we had driving up there and how I'm a master at Jeopardy. Sorry there were no rockin' parties at the Days Inn, sometimes you get what you pay for.

On to the race, I guess you were really doing a lot of thinking during this marathon to remember so many details.

I agree with Clyde this was a good race for you, especially with the foot issue. You are right you might have went out a bit fast, but that is sometimes hard to gage when you've never ran the full course before. I thought I was being really conservative in the beginning and still ended up running the second half quite a bit slower than I wanted to.

Get that foot healed up and get ready for a long, hot summer of training. Should be fun!

From dave holt on Tue, May 19, 2009 at 14:01:53 from 204.113.55.41

You just have to respect a Animal like that. By the way, very good race! Unfinished business to be taken care of at STG. Looking forward to getting back after it with you, Yeeehaaaw!!

Easy miles with the guys..  clyde, a new guy named James, Steve, and ken carlson.   We met at  Big foots home and his  wife  was  kind to give us a ride up to utah hill.    As steve the shoe  guy arrived  fashionably late he  chucked mikes shoes out the window  of his car,  like they were Nikes or something.   He is  so funny.  Mike  made Steve tie his shoes laces.  LOL.   When we arrived on top of utah Hill. I think Ken was thinking  we were just going to run 6 miles.   He took of at 6 min pace.  Ken is a master runner with more talent in his  broken toe then i have in my whole  body.   But the Bull was in no mood to let him go on his  journey by him self so i went with him. We pretty much maintained a my race pace for 10 k    and we both new the race was over at 10 k.   But we had 8 more miles to go!!!   We pretty much shut it down and kept the pace around 7 min pace the rest of the way.    What i nice day for a run. over cast. a little muggy but ok. Big foot  was amazing. He had a  great day after hammering out  80 miles this  week!

then we started our tempo  1.6:13  2. 6.35 3. 6.36  4.6.29. At mile 2,  I looked back and Big foot and his hairy legs was breathing fire down my neck.  The guy is just getting faster all the time.  Next week he said he is going to wear his hocky mask ! Who does that remind u of?

Good job Bull. My alarm went off at 4:30, then I got up went the bathroom and decided I would benefit more from a few more hours of sleep and probably less miles. It is now 9:30 and I'm going to go and do 9 miles, that will put me at 40 for the week, so kind of low, but not terrible for being on vacation. Hope to get back on schedule next week. I really need to have a good weeks in July, August, and the first part of September.

We  ran the annual Steven Abraham Lincoln Hooper memorial Fun run!    What a challenge.  Every year it gets bigger!!   The competition is getting so good!!     I woke up at 3:30 AM  and drove over to where  the old store use to be.  (now it just a shell with no magic inside!)   Steve and  James, and Dave and Mrs Hooper!   and several other girls!     And a tough as Nails Marine named Kam. We drove up to the enterprise Resouviors  and started our journey. Kam held true to his  marine past  and started his death march roll by screaming "move it girly's ur looking kind of limp!!"  He was pushing the pace the whole way.    Around mile six  my stomach began to revolt and i left a few momories  up in them there hills.   After throwing up a few times i was just fine.    We ran into a few cows along the way and a few campers.   The pace was tough up the hills.   i crawled up each one  and i  kept telling my self "make it worth it i got up to earrly not push my wat through the hills"   These hills should be called widow makers.  this is a nice run the awards are so awesome  at the end wee jump into a cool stream andd soak.

Come on Bull, your sticking with the Elmer thing. I must admit, after the appoinment today I wouold be Elmer (glue that is) if I were a horse. I have been running in the Clydesdale, hope that don't count. Hey, thanks for all the great runs. Tuesdays will not be the same without chasing the fierce Bull at mach one.

From Dustin on Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 16:30:50 from 204.113.48.77

Mike the emphasis should be on sticking. Because that is what glue does.

Bull, honeymoon is over so now you have time to blog again. Nice run! So, Vegas, Tucson, CIM, Mesquite. Lets hear the wisdom of the bull. I know how much you love Tucson.

From Bill on Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 12:07:49 from 168.179.180.160

What Honeymoon? That would be nice! I think Vegas is the one 4 u! But you got to keep up the training and not get burned out! that will be the Key to having a good race!

Good to have you back my friend! I am not sure what marathon I want to do. I would prefer to find a Saturday run. There is one in Death Valley on the 5th of December. Fairly flat with rollers, not the easiest but not bad and it is small. I still want to go check out Mesquite and see how brutal the last miles are.

From Mike Warren on Wed, Oct 14, 2009 at 16:26:17 from 207.50.149.221

Scott, I had some neighbors run Death Valley a couple years ago. She missed her BQ at STG by 1:15 seconds. She decided to try at Death Vally and ran it 35 min slower. Not saying this will be your fate. She was not happy with the out & back course and just thought it was much tougher than STG. On the other hand, that would be some sweet bragging rights to say you BQ'd at Death Vally.
